A Jelly Roll Slice Quilt for a Baby Boy!

I’m so excited to share what I made from the Fat Quarter Shop’s newest free video pattern, the Jelly Roll Slice. They provided the pattern and fabric and the timing was right as I was just deciding on a pattern for a friend’s upcoming shower!

Franklin Jelly Roll and Kona Pewter

The fabric I used was Franklin by Denise Schmitt for Free Spirit. Franklin is a town not far from here so I liked that little extra connection. The baby quilt size only used half the jelly roll so since this roll came with prints and solids I separated the solids to use for a pieced back.

The blocks went together fast & easy. I’m not a particularly fast piecer so the baby quilt from start to finish was a weekend project. I really love how versatile this pattern is, it looks so great in this bold color palette as well as a softer color like Kimberly uses in the how to video.

You can pick up a kit and make one just like Kimberly’s in the Fat Quarter Shop or supply your own jelly roll with the free Jelly Roll Slice pattern that you can download here!

All week (until Feb 28th) the Fat Quarter Shop has all jelly rolls at 15% off! No coupon code necessary. Be sure to pin this quilt to keep it on hand for your next “in a pinch” quilt!

I was compensated in this post by the Fat Quarter Shop but my opinions are my own.

  1. I love Denyse Schmidt’s fabrics. These made such a fun verion of this quilt. Your rainbow striped backing is great. I would love to have a few yards of the stripe you used for your binding. It would work for many of my quilt projects. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I just love baby quilts that are made with bright colors, Terri Ann! And the back of your beautiful quilt is just as terrific as the front 🙂

  3. I literally gasped when I saw how you ended up quilting this pattern it s perfect! I love the combination of the angles and straight lines and that you didn t let those slices get in the way of beautiful straight line quilting 3 Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful finish!
