Instead of making resolutions I’m setting goals this year. Many of them are around putting more energy into my crafting. Crafting makes me happy so I’m going to indulge myself in my happiness. I’m going to be participating in the finish-a-long in 2015 over at On the Windy Side this year, something I’ve thought about doing in the past but haven’t been brave enough.
For Q1 I am proposing that I finish the following WIP:
1. Half Square Triangle of Doom
Okay this project will have a better name when it’s done but with 400+ HST using Essex linen and a variety of prints it’s destined to be amazing. I don’t have a layout picked and I’m probably 100 HST’s away from having all the blocks squared up. This project could accidentally live on my design wall for a long time so adding it to the finish along ensures that won’t be the case. Realistically I may only get the top finished this quarter but my stretch goal is to get it 100% finished, quilted and bound.
2. Running Through Daydreams
This stinking quilt needs to be quilted and bound. It’s sat an unreasonable amount of time with the batting and backing and thread for quilting. I need no additional materials for this aside from binding but I’ve been stuck on how to quilt it for some time now. Time to make some decisions!
3. Plus what?
This quilt has also sat for far too long, I have the top, back and batting together and I’ve picked the thread as well. I’ve second guessed how to quilt this for some time but I think straight lines 1/4″ from both sides of the seams is what I’m going to do.
4. Queen Terrain Wishing Upon Spring Stars
She’s a beast this one, started in 2011 this is the second quilt I ever started. This quilt had/has a lot of emotions tied to it so it was really hard to finish the top but I did an after I picked it up from the long arm a year ago I attached the binding but never flipped and stitched. I had intended to hand stitch it but I picked up some glue the other day and I think I’m going to machine stitch the binding on. It’s time to put on my big girl pants and finish it!
Update: 2/26 – Finished (and re-name: Wishing Upon Spring Stars)
5. Love Wall Hanging
This is for a wall hanging I sketched up that I want to produce as free pattern by the end of January. I pulled the fabric for it from a fat quarter bundle in my stash (yay using stash items!)
6. My First Clutch (DONE!)
I picked up the bolt of this adorable fabric and carried it arount my LQS last weekend. The ladies asked what project it was for and all I could tell them was “I don’t know but I love it too much to not buy half a yard.” They laughed; they get me. When I found the coordinating zipper on the zipper end cap it was a lightbulb moment. This plus the leather that’s en-route right now will make the cutest little clutch *insert warm fuzzy happy sigh here*
I almost wish I had more smaller WIPs to list but most of them are still ideas in my head and I won’t buy the fabric for them till the other small projects are done. Seems like a pretty good list here though. I anticipate a couple might be hangers-on into Q2 but only time will tell, I at least want to make progress on each of these items!
